A lacquer work is born from boundless knowledge and sweat. From the artist's sketch through the woodworking, building up the base, lacquering, vermilion, polishing, and mother-of-pearl or eggshell inlay…, each piece is the fruit of many layers of handwork. With this exhibition, SonMani hopes each work is seen not as the achievement of a single individual, but as the crystallization of many hands, many lives, many traditions, and many auspicious affinities. The exhibition gratefully names every artisan, craftsperson, and collaborator who took part in each stage — a heartfelt tribute to those who quietly keep the flame of the craft alive.
