A Western Tibetan thangka of Shadakshari Avalokiteshvara, the “Six-Syllable All-Seeing Lord,” shown white and four-armed: the lower hands hold a lotus and a garland of beads while the upper two join at the heart, with Amitabha at the crown of his hair. He is attended by red Manidhara, seated with one knee raised, and by Shadakshari Vidya, the female “Six-Syllable One of Knowledge.”
Along the top sit the five Buddhas of the Tantric families — Vairochana, Akshobhya, Amitabha, Ratnasambhava and Amoghasiddhi. Below, the wrathful blue Vajrapani brandishes a vajra at the right, while orange Manjushri raises a sword and a lotus bearing a book at the left. A monk kneels in homage at the lower right, beside three figures now worn by time.
