Peaceful in appearance with eyes semi-closed, Jinasagara Avalokiteshvara holds a blue wish-fulfilling jewel in the hands clasped at his heart; his second pair of hands holds a jewel mala in the right and a red lotus in the left. Adorned with a gold crown, earrings, necklaces and bracelets, he wears a krishnasara deerskin over the left shoulder, a green scarf, and orange and blue lower garments. Legs crossed in vajra posture, he sits on a white moon disc and a multi-coloured lotus surrounded by radiant spheres of light, with offerings of precious jewels, red coral and conch shells arranged before him.
Above is Padmasambhava in a mahasiddha form, brown, with arms extended and hands open, wearing a skull crown, long black hair, bone ornaments and a tiger-skin skirt, standing in a dancing posture. Higher still is the Buddha Amitabha, Lord of the Lotus family, red, with one face and two hands holding a begging bowl in his lap, wreathed in rainbow light.
At the middle left is wrathful Hayagriva, red, with one face and two hands and a green horse head in his crown, raising a damaru drum in the right hand and a bell at the hip in the left, amid flames of wisdom fire. At the middle right is Guhya Jnana Dakini, orange-red and wrathful, with one face and four hands holding a curved knife and skullcup at the heart and a raised sword and khatvanga staff, dancing on her left leg within flames of pristine awareness.
At the top left is a Karmapa in the posture of Dudul Dorje (1733-1797), the right hand at the heart holding a pink lotus and the left in the gesture of generosity, wearing monastic robes and the black vajra crown of the Karmapas. At the right is a Situ Rinpoche, the right hand across the knee and the left holding a book, in monastic robes and the red hat of a regent of the Karmapas.
At the bottom centre is the special protector of the Kamtsang School, Black-Cloak Mahakala (Tibetan: bernagchen), wrathful and dark blue, raising a curved knife in the right hand and holding a skullcup at the heart, wearing a long black cloak over a green garment and tiger-skin skirt amid orange flames. Beside him is Shri Devi (Palden Lhamo) Mahakali, dark blue, with one face and four arms holding a trident, a kila dagger and a raised mirror, riding a dark green mule amid smoke and flame. Also present is the avowed protector Damchen Garwa Nagpo, the Blacksmith, dark blue with one face and two hands, raising a hammer and holding a tiger-skin bellows, riding a brown goat amid billowing smoke.
