༄༅། །ཁྲོ་གཉེར་གཡོ་བའི་སྒྲོལ་མ་།།
ཕྱག་འཚལ་ས་གཞིའི་ངོས་ལ་ཕྱག་གི
།མཐིལ་གྱིས་བསྣུན་ཅིང་ཞབས་ཀྱིས་བརྡུང་མ། །
ཁྲོ་གཉེར་ཅན་མཛད་ཡི་གེ་ཧཱུྃ་གིས།
།རིམ་པ་བདུན་པོ་རྣམས་ནི་འགེམས་མ། །Homage to Tara whose hand presses the great earth,
Nghi quỹ tu trì Lục Độ Phật Mẫu, Drukpa lineage
who stamps her foot and pins the hosts of maras,
whose wrathful frown reveals the syllable HUM;
the seven perils and every calamity
she subdues,
and guards with love.
Tara “the wrathful” is also called Calad-Bhrikuti Tara, “Tara of the trembling frown”. She is the second of Tara’s most wrathful aspects. She stands upon a golden sun disc and an orange lotus, leaning a little in the alidha posture, one leg extended, both feet treading upon prostrate corpses.
Her whole body is a fierce and deepest black, with six arms and three wrathful faces — each with three eyes glaring in fury, hair standing upright, set against a blazing aureole of fire. Her central face is black, her right face white and her left face red. All three wear expressions of wrath, brows knitted and lips drawn back, baring four gleaming fangs and a curling red tongue. Each face is crowned with a diadem of five skulls, and from the mouth of the central face hang human entrails.
Draped upon her fierce body are ornaments of gold and bone, a rosary of fifty human heads, a tiger-skin loincloth and a long serpent as her sacred cord. Her upper garment is a human skin, its arms knotted across her shoulders, its head and feet hanging down her back. In her first pair of hands she holds an iron sword and a skull-cup filled with human blood. In her second pair, an iron hook and a noose. In her third pair, a skull-topped club and the yellow four-faced head of Brahma. Above her crown appears the buddha Amoghasiddhi. She has the power to destroy every impure thought with her fierce aspect, and her practice is connected with establishing the protective circle.
